A war against Iraq could trigger major acts of nuclear,
biological and/or chemical (NBC) terrorism on U.S. soil. Such use of weapons
of mass destruction in this nation may seriously impact much of the Northeast.
People from Washington DC to Boston need to now take active measures to
prepare for potentially significant dislocations caused by the effects of
biological, radiological and/or chemical weapons use in our vicinity. Some
simple preparatory measures and basic planning at this stage will go a long
way in mitigating the potential harm NBC terrorism would have on family
and friends should the coming war against Iraq precipitate what the government
clearly is concerned about. Furthermore, taking precautions now will likely
reduce the recovery time in the wake of any major crisis that could erupt.
And even if no such NBC terrorism occurs here when war comes, there is little
to be lost in terms of time and money by forging plans and setting aside
important supplies at this stage....whereas doing nothing before an NBC
crisis occurs could prove fatal or lead to severe, unnecessary suffering.
Thus, now is the time to get ready, not tomorrow or the next day, NOW...
