2 points, first the obvious one: this is Mr. Robinson's site, and if he doesn't like someone's ideas, grammar, or tone of voice, he isn't under the slightest obligation to let them hang around, any more than he would be in his own house.
Second, as I understand the blurb on the front page of FR, this is not meant to be a general chat site. It has a pragmatic goal: to be a place where people Mr. Robinson considers conservatives can put their heads together and plot the good of America. I think the problem on FR now is that there are too many totally incompatible viewpoints butting heads here, so that on lots of threads there's no room for the kind of strategizing and thinking things through together that was visible here during the Florida election crisis - just total war with those who think America's war against terrorism is "Satanic" and that Palestine ought to be Judenrein. So I would think it perfectly understandable if Mr. Robinson were even more restrictive -- even if it meant cutting me out, it would make the Forum more efficient for the goals for which he founded it.
People who come on a privately-owned website and then whine "censorship" when the owner doesn't choose to let them perform there should get no respect from anyone with a more than one-cell brain.

Agreed! I've seen a few of Michael Rivero's posts here. This guy makes the worst Art Bell foil-hat X-Files nuts around look good. (I'm not trying to insult people who watch the X-files in general, just some of the people who watch it and think that it's a documentary, not fictional entertainment.)
Mikey's just bent out of shape because J.R. told him to take it somewhere else.

Was it the right thing for the German people to unquestioningly back Hitler because there was a war on? Or would the German people (and the world) have been better served taking a pause and a closer look at just what the government was doing?
How absurd to compare President Bush to Hitler! It's the same as comparing good to evil--however, the good only shows how evil the evil was.

What's happening in the Free Republic forum nowadays is more akin to what exists in Communist China rather than America!
It is incredibly tragic and disturbing that there are Freepers who will read what I'm writing here, be in agreement, and refrain from showing any support whatsoever for fear that they will be considered a "political dissident" (disruptor) by their "comrades" (Freepers) and thus face banishment from "The Party" (booted from FR)!!!
Is this what America's all about?
To the contrary.
Accusing Jim Robinson and his cohorts of censorship is a moot point because that much is abundantly clear.
The problem here is not with censorship so much as with HYPOCRISY...
hypocrisy: The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
As signified by the logo above, Jim Robinson's Free Republic forum claims to represent "EQUALITY, LIBERTY, JUSTICE" and is purportedly dedicated to "Defending Our Constitution".
Well, Mr. Robinson, and those who choose to blindly support him, please bear in mind the following:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Hopefully everyone here recognizes that this is the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and probably the most fundamental principle for which America stands.
If Mr. Robinson and those who run this forum are going to continue censoring opinions they dislike and banning posters they consider disagreeable, then please stop claiming to be defenders of the U.S. constitution and American liberty. Such claims are blatant hypocrisy.
"Free Republic" started as a simple political forum that grew into one of the most popular gathering places for those who are truly concerned about preserving and protecting the spirit and ideals of America in the face of a seemingly overwhelming, self-destructive tide of collective sin and high political corruption. The forum spearheaded and empowered a nationwide movement that helped to expose crimes of the Clinton Adminstration and achieve Bill Clinton's impeachment. Free Republic made the difference when it counted in the 2000 Presidential Election by swaying popular opinion and rallying the politcal forces necessary to prevent Al Gore and the Democratic Party from stealing the Presidency.
Unfortunately, however, rather than continuing to be a political and social front battling on behalf of the American Republic and the principles for which it stands, this forum is starting to represent the evils attributed to the enemies of our nation thus compromising its ability to take a principled, righteous stand. Increasingly, Free Republic is simply a closed dictatorship of Mr. Robinson and his followers.
How incredibly sad.
I hope and pray Jim Robinson and the others running Free Republic will find the courage to face the truth of their increasingly evident hypocrisy and reverse from their misled, erroneous course. Unfortunately, however, my hopes for the salvation of America, and this forum was part of that hope, are almost always upset.
